This simply structured house is painted in daring orange.
Contrasting with the green surroundings, its interesting beauty and charm are something new to the eyes. The open-plan interior, together with the unique style of decoration, provides convenience and gives continuity in the house. The house's casual characteristic reflects its fun-loving owner who admires art, colors, and the unharmed serenity of nature.
The adjacent public area of virgin forest and refreshing little creek from Mae Sa Waterfall make this 1.5 rai piece of land look much larger than it
really is. The whole area is open, linking the natural forest with the
tastefully decorated garden.
Having acquired his ideal garden and its surrounding natural view, the owner then designed the house using a simple L-shape structure.
The interior accentuates the openness that flows between all of the areas,
in order to make the house as spacious and comfortable as possible.
The boldest feature of the house is surely the striking color of the outside walls. Nevertheless, there are many other impressive features that must be noted, for example, the huge sliding door or the tall windows, the bare concrete staircase without a stairwell, or an open kitchen with a massive terrazzo counter in the center of the house. The owners favored colors-orange, yellow, and blue-merge well with plain-colored natural decorative items. Modest Asian-style furniture in different designs are carefully placed in the appropriate location to maximize the use of space.
"I dont want my house to be too neat," says the house owner. "I want the color of the outside wall to look run?down, to make the atmosphere classic, with a bit of a retro echo. The design and interior decoration are based on our lifestyle and taste, whether it be colors, trees, or art."
The use shades of bright yellow emotionally link the open, shared area downstairs. The roughly painted wall and a plain-looking concrete floor get along smoothly with the style and color of furniture made of natural materials. Their design greatly reminds one of Asian charm. The stylish dining area is on the right-hand side. It links with the open kitchen at the center of the house, which features a gigantic terrazzo counter able to accommodate any party, and flows to the left, to the informal living area. The unadorned bare concrete staircase simply joins the entire lower floor and the private areas upstairs together. It has no stairwell but is adorned with sandstone dolls and retro wooden furniture.
The upper floor is divided into two areas. The right wing is host to two guest rooms with Asian-style wooden furnishing items. The middle hall serves as a cozy living corner, while the left wing is the main bedroom, whose walls, in the owner's favorite jazzy orange, create a good contrast with the blue floor and bathroom walls. Equipped with modest, functional furniture; its back wall has been transformed into a huge sliding glass door connecting the room to a balcony looking out onto a soothing rice field and sunset behind the renowned Suthep mountain.
